About Uppingham School

Position Overview
We are seeking a Catering and Retail Manager responsible for developing and executing catering solutions that meet customer needs. You will facilitate the delivery of high-standard prepared food alongside retail operations with challenging targets. This role includes managing the daily retail offer for students and meals for day pupils over a 6-day week, with potential for expansion.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee retail and catering operations to ensure exceptional service quality.
* Collaborate closely with the Deputy Manager and Student Engagement Coordinator to deliver a diverse, high-volume retail catering service.
* Implement effective planning, marketing, and resource management strategies.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies, including food safety standards like HACCP.
* Promote sustainability initiatives within retail operations.
* Manage business performance, including financial targets and KPIs, and control costs.
* Coordinate with supply chain partners to manage stock levels effectively.
* Lead, train, and develop the catering and retail team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
* Maintain high standards in food presentation and service quality.
* Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and conduct regular team meetings.
* Build strong relationships with clients, staff, and pupils.
* Identify opportunities to increase sales and optimize retail offerings.
* Analyze retail data to support planning and decision-making.
* Align operations with client vision and Aramark values.
* Actively seek and respond to client and customer feedback.
* Monitor wastage and implement strategies to reduce it.
Qualifications and Skills
* Diploma or degree in catering or 2-5 years of relevant industry experience, including management experience in volume hospitality or retail settings.
* Strong people management skills.
* Knowledge of Food Hygiene and HACCP standards.
* Ability to operate effectively in a diverse, high-pressure environment focused on customer satisfaction.
* Proven track record of achieving commercial targets.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and open to continuous improvement.
What We Offer
* Full-time position, 40 hours/week, 5 days over 7, including occasional Saturdays. Term-time only, 40 weeks/year.
