Product Safety Engineer (Glasgow/Green Park)
Role summary
An opportunity has arisen for the role of Product Safety Engineer within the Thales UK Optronics & Missile Electronics (OME) organisation. This role will contribute to the ongoing development of Land, Naval and Air products and systems. The role holder will support the Safety and Technical authorities, the safety team and the wider organisation, and may involve reliability, environmental and materials analysis when required.
Responsibilities
* Identify to the Safety Authority any concerns regarding the safety of a product, or the application of policies and processes.
* Generate safety artefacts to support the product safety argument, such as Safety & Environmental Management Plans, Hazard Logs and Safety & Environmental Case Reports.
* Facilitate hazard/risk identification including functional failure analysis, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Fault & Event Tree Analysis.
* Develop product safety requirements.
* Support Project Design Authorities in achieving compliance with Legislation, Regulations and Standards applicable to the product(s).
* Assist in generating reasonable bid estimates.
* Peer review product safety artefacts produced by others in the team.
* Manage multiple safety programmes, including scheduling and stakeholder interaction.
* Support the development of Product Safety training material and deliver the training.

* Experience in the implementation and delivery of Product and System Safety Engineering activities is highly desirable.
* Ability to build positive and effective relationships with stakeholders, including team members and customers.

Qualifications
* Suitable qualifications and relevant experience in engineering design/delivery and its lifecycle.
* Ability to demonstrate appropriate behaviours and skills.
* Experience with safety analysis methods (e.g., hazard/risk identification, FMEA, FTA).
* Ability to generate and manage safety artefacts and support compliance with applicable legislation and standards.
Security & Eligibility
This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; if not, the successful applicant will need to obtain, achieve and maintain SC Clearance. Eligibility guidance can be found on the UK government and DBS NSV frameworks. In line with Thales Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide identity and work eligibility information. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance.
