Job Title: Year 5 Class Teacher (Full-Time, Fixed Term)

Working Pattern: Full-time (Monday – Friday)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join a supportive and well-established primary school in Orpington. This is a full-time class teaching role with full classroom responsibilities.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a Year 5 class, deliver engaging and high-quality lessons while ensure all pupils are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
2. Take full responsibility for the Year 5 class, including planning, marking and assessment
3. Track and monitor pupil progress, using data to inform planning and interventions
4. Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
5. Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
6. Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and senior leadership
7. Attend staff meetings, training and school events as required
8. Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Person Specification
Essential:
9. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
10. Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (preferably Year 5)
11. Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum
12. Proven ability to manage a classroom effectively
13. Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet a range of learning needs
14. Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable:
15. Experience teaching upper Key Stage 2
16. Strong knowledge of assessment and pupil progress tracking
17. Experience preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage expectations
