Pet Shop Manager
Location: Isle of Wight Pet Centre
Hours: 5 days per week (days negotiable between Tuesday–Sunday), 10:00am – 5:00pm
About the role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Pet Shop Manager to oversee the daily running of our busy pet shop. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone passionate about animal welfare and customer service, with strong organisational skills and retail experience.
Key responsibilities
* Provide high standards of care for a variety of animals including birds, fish, reptiles, rabbits, and small mammals
* Monitor animal health and wellbeing daily
* Maintain accurate animal records, logs, and welfare documentation
* Complete and oversee daily checklists to ensure compliance and high welfare standards
* Ensure enclosures are clean, safe, and meet species‑specific requirements
* Serve customers in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner
* Provide advice on animal care, habitats, nutrition, and products
* Handle transactions and manage the till accurately
* Rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality
* Ensure the shop floor is well‑presented, clean, and organised
Essential Requirements
* Level 3 Animal Management qualification (essential)
* Strong knowledge of animal husbandry across multiple species
* Confident working independently and taking responsibility for the store
