Job Purpose
The Deck Coordinator will be responsible for all rigging/equipment preparation necessary to carry out tasks defined in procedures and change requests (Management of Change – MoC). To assist the Rigging Supervisor to facilitate the timely execution of project tasks through prior preparation of materials to be used and assist in safety related issues and requirements.
This position is being offered on a Dat Rate Contract basis.
Job Description
1. A Deck Coordinator shall perform his duties in cooperation with the Project Engineer and shall assist the Rigging Supervisor with rigging operations as and when required
2. Update the Rigging Supervisor of equipment status and location
3. Shall act as interface between the Project Engineer and rigging team
4. Follow procedures in preparation of all equipment needed to carry out tasks
5. Recognised the need for, and if necessary instigate management of change if procedure indicates rigging is not in accordance with safe practice
6. If required, liaise with the project team at the start of mobilization to ensure efficient load-out of equipment and good organization for offshore phase
7. Attend morning project meeting on behalf of the Rigging Supervisor/crew
8. Attend vessel safety meeting as required and report back to deck crews on outcome
9. Attend/hold safety meetings, Tool Box Talks (TBT) and risk assessments when required with the Rigging Supervisor and crew Keep a copy/log of all rigging certificates onboard and update it between projects and also be responsible for all project rigging quality and control
10. Ensure the project equipment and consumables are available and ordered through the store person / Offshore Management when required
11. Assist in maintaining the Company working and safety standard on deck
12. Relieve the Rigging Supervisor during meal times and stand in as Rigging Supervisor if required
13. During mobilisation, ensure all project rigging equipment is satisfactory.
14. During demobilisation, ensure all project rigging, vessel rigging and vessel project rigging is separated correctly.
15. Also quarantine and stock take all uncertified rigging (out of date) and provide a list to the Offshore Management for further action
16. That all rigging equipment prepared by the Deck Coordinator is in accordance with the safe working practice
17. That all lifting rigging (shackles, slings, strops etc) is in good condition and is certified prior to being put in use
18. That the deck is maintained in a safe manner and that all potential hazards, e.g. oil spills, cable run, small steel up stand (old seafastening) are either removed or safety controls put in place and maintained
19. That all project rigging is colour codes
20. That all project rigging is demobilized on project completion
21. That any rigging that is defective or suspected of being defective is quarantined
22. All equipment movement during mobilizations and demobilizations are recorded
23. Ensure all materials and tools needed for the coming tasks are available and ready for use

Essential: Qualifications (professional, technical, academic)
24. OPITO accredited Rigging Supervisory/Intermediate certification or equivalent
25. OPITO accredited Rigging and Lifting certification or equivalent
26. OPITO accredited Banksman Slinger certification or equivalent
27. Valid offshore European survival
28. Valid offshore medical certificate
Preferred: Qualifications (professional, technical, academic)
29. Working at height
30. Lifting gear examiner
31. Wire rope socketing
32. Manual handling
33. First aid course
Experience/skills/knowledge
Essential:
34. Good working knowledge of written and oral English language
35. Good understanding and working knowledge of rigging and lifting practice
36. Good understanding of tooling (including hydraulic) and test equipment
37. Good understanding and working knowledge of current legislation and guidance
38. Good understanding and working knowledge of Quality Health Safety & Environment (QHS&E) safety management systems
