Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager to oversee the mechanical aspects of a large-scale MEP healthcare hospital project in Plymouth valued at £48 million. This role requires extensive expertise in mechanical engineering and project management to ensure the project is completed efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all mechanical contracts, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
* Develop detailed project plans and coordinate with other disciplines, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Allocate resources effectively, including labour, materials, and equipment.
* Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and quality benchmarks through inspections and audits.
* Implement safety protocols and address safety issues promptly.
* Monitor expenditures and manage financial resources, providing regular reports.
* Identify and mitigate risks, developing contingency plans.
* Serve as the primary contact for the client, providing updates and addressing concerns.
* Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
* Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years in mechanical engineering and project management, with successful delivery of large-scale MEP projects, preferably in healthcare.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, and regulations; proficiency in project management software.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Attention to detail and high-quality work standards.
* Core qualifications include NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services, City & Guilds 6188, CSCS Card, SMSTS, and optionally PMP or PRINCE2, NEC3/NEC4 training.
The role will start at our Exeter Office until December, then transition to Derriford Hospital FHP1 site in Plymouth until project completion in December 2028.
