A well-established and growing company is looking to appoint a proactive and hands‑on Transport Manager to join their team on the outskirts of Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining transport planning, compliance, and customer interaction within a busy, fast‑paced environment.
The Role
You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of transport operations, working closely with the Depot Manager. Responsibilities include:
* Coordinating and planning multi‑drop deliveries to customers
* Maximising route efficiency through strong geographical knowledge
* Managing vehicle maintenance schedules and bookings
* Monitoring driver compliance, including tachograph downloads and records
* Ensuring adherence to driving hours regulations and the Working Time Directive
* Supporting the wider team with customer interaction, including answering calls and assisting at the trade counter
About You
The ideal candidate will bring:
* Previous experience within a busy transport or logistics environment
* CPC qualification and strong tachograph knowledge (essential)
* A solid understanding of driver compliance, WTD, and transport regulations
* Experience within a builders’ merchants, construction supply, or similar environment (highly desirable)
* Confidence dealing with customers both over the phone and face‑to‑face
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced setting
* A positive, “can‑do” attitude with a willingness to support across the team
