Job Overview
As a Social Media & Marketing Apprentice you will support content creation, scheduling and marketing campaigns while promoting our home and shops. You will gain hands‑on experience in social media, marketing strategies and delivering fundraising ideas, under the guidance of an experienced Marketing Manager and a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in creating new content across the home’s social media platforms and support monitoring and responding to comments in line with the home’s policies and procedures.
* Research and plan a yearly social media schedule to ensure key events such as Volunteers Week and Adopt a Shelter Animal Day are recognised and promoted.
* Work alongside the Animal Welfare Staff to safely film and produce TikTok/social‑media videos with animals, keeping up to date with current social‑media trends.
* Engage with the Retail Manager and shop staff to create posts that support the marketing and promotion of Danaher Charity shops and their products.
* Engage professionally and proactively with customers and followers across social‑media platforms.
* Contribute to the creation of posters and visual media to promote the home and its work.
* Attend events at the home to capture and share content for social‑media and marketing purposes.
* Undertake sector‑specific research around social‑media trends and activities to bring forward new ideas and develop our social‑media offer.
* Provide support to the Social Media and Marketing Manager with the administration of the Corporate Sponsorship Programme and similar programmes as required.
* Update the ‘Success Stories’ and ‘News and Events’ sections of the website with relevant information.
* Undertake any other duties as directed by the Social Media and Marketing Manager, develop or interpret briefs for external or internal stakeholders and measure delivery in line with the specification and agreed timelines.
* Plan and coordinate marketing activities using marketing tactics to acquire and retain customer segments using available resources.
* Contribute to innovative and creative approaches across video, images and other formats, both online and offline, to support campaign development.
* Use research/survey software to gather audience insight and/or evaluation to support the project.
* Use copywriting techniques to write persuasive copy to meet a communications objective, ensuring it is in line with organisational brand guidelines.
* Build and implement multi‑channel campaigns across a variety of platforms, either offline or digital media.
* Proofread marketing copy ensuring it is accurate, persuasive and on brand.
* Use software to design and create marketing assets to meet the technical specification.
* Research external suppliers to support recommendations and procurement of marketing goods and services.
* Organise offline and digital assets, ensuring they are coordinated and legally compliant.
* Use a website content management system to publish text, images and video/animated content.
* Create and maintain spreadsheets to support marketing activities such as project and budget planning and organisation of marketing assets.
* Use technology and software packages to support day‑to‑day activities, including stakeholder communications, development of briefs, data analysis, report writing, presentations and project management.
* Identify and use data and technologies to achieve marketing objectives.
* Monitor and amend campaigns to meet budget requirements, including time and financial costs.
* Review campaigns regularly to ensure effectiveness and optimise the results.
* Measure and evaluate campaign delivery to identify areas for improvement.
* Use data analysis tools to record, interpret and analyse customer or campaign data.
Qualifications
* GCSE in Maths and English (Grade A‑C / 9‑4). Other relevant qualifications and industry experience are welcome.

Other Requirements
* Applicants must be 18+ (minors are not licensed to work on our site).
* Driving licence or easy travel access is required due to the remote location with no direct public transport routes.
* Long periods working on a computer will be part of the role.
About Danaher
Danaher is an independent registered animal rescue charity based in Wethersfield, Essex. Each year we rehome hundreds of lost, abandoned or ill‑treated dogs, cats and small animals. While affiliated with the RSPCA, we are a self‑funding charity that relies heavily on fundraising, marketing and our social‑media coverage.
Remuneration & Terms
* £13,741 for the first year (increasing with age). National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices applies.
* Training course: Multi‑channel Marketer (Level 3).
* Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with two 30‑minute breaks or one hour lunch break. 35 hours a week.
* Start date: Monday 19 January 2026.
* Duration: 1 year 6 months.
