ABOUT RCS

Maximise your chances of a successful application to this job by ensuring your CV and skills are a good match.

RAAC Consulting & Solutions (RCS) is a fast-growing, independent consultancy and specialist contractor tackling one of the UK’s most urgent infrastructure challenges: Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

We are recognised for our delivery, technical excellence, and integrity. As the UK’s only fully managed RAAC solution provider—from initial survey to full remediation—we serve both the public and private sector in settings such as local government, courts, museums, major manufacturers, utilities, shopping centres and critical infrastructure.

We are a small but ambitious team, having recently moved into brand-new offices in Chelmsford, and now seeking a Project Manager to bring structure and momentum to our client activity.

Role Purpose

To lead the planning, mobilisation, delivery, and closure of complex client facing projects. The postholder will ensure robust planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement are embedded across the lifecycle of RCS’ project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities – Delivering Good Outcomes

* Define, document, and deliver projects with a relentless focus on timeliness, quality, commercial recovery and client satisfaction.
* Orchestrate project delivery, ensuring that all team members and stakeholders are enabled to deliver target outcomes without exception.

* Manage project budgets, resource allocation, timelines, and key dependencies.
* Embed governance, assurance, and benefits realisation activities in all stages of delivery.
* Drive stakeholder engagement, managing expectations and maintaining clear communications.
* Escalate risks and issues appropriately, and ensure mitigating actions are tracked and delivered.
* Manage external contractors and/or delivery partners to ensure quality and compliance.
* Support continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned and promoting agile ways of working.
* Develop and embed within RCS a highly rigorous project management methodology, which is demonstrably contributing to high levels of client satisfaction and commercial success.

A successful project manager will:

* Deliver target outcomes for all client projects and the planned commercial return for RCS. This will be enabled by:
* Driving a structured approach to project mobilisation, gaining the commitment of all participants to an agreed plan.
* Maintaining realistic and achievable delivery plans.
* Proactively managing delivery risk and taking early corrective action.
* Insisting on active involvement of the project team and key stakeholders.
* Holding delivery partners and internal teams to account.
* Driving a focus on facts and evidence.
* Facilitating and documenting agreement and actions.
* Fostering collaboration and challenge blockers or inertia effectively.

Essential Criteria:

* Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in a wide range of sectors, including regulated environments.
* Deep expertise in project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, APM), deploying them as appropriate to the specific setting
* A highly tenacious attitude, refusing to accept anything that could jeopardise delivery excellence and being relentless in finding solutions to issues.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Ability to manage budgets, scope, quality, client satisfaction, resourcing, risks, and milestones across multiple workstreams.
* Experience operating within a structured governance and assurance framework.
* Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

* PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM PMQ qualified.
* 5 years plus in a professional services firm, class-leading project based organisation or comparable experience
* Highly developed commercial acumen
* Understanding of NEC / JCT contracts or construction / asset-heavy projects (if applicable).
* Experience using project tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira
What we offer
* Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 depending on experience.
* Structured support and mentoring from experienced Senior Project Managers.
* Hands-on experience in programme creation and milestone management on nationally significant projects.
* Opportunity to develop expertise in a unique and high-demand specialism within construction.
* Hybrid working with new offices at Eagle House, Chelmsford.
* Professional development and support for chartership/accreditations (APM, RICS, CIOB).
