What you’ll be doing
1. Act as subject matter expert (SME) for ITC (export control, sanctions and customs).
2. Accountable for shaping and delivering the ITC strategy and Internal Compliance Program (ICP)
3. Own ITC strategic projects and deliver the project objectives to underpin the ITC strategy and ICP.
4. Support the assurance team ITC assurance activites necessary to asses the effectiveness of the ICP controls and that the compliance status is within risk tolerances.
5. Develop and deliver pan-BT ITC training and communications.
6. Provide ITC advice and guidance to business leadership, 1st line business teams and 2nd line functional teams.
7. Responsible for calling out compliance risks with senior leaders pan-BT; challenging thinking and holding the business to account.
8. Develop, motivate and mentor 1st line team members in relation to ITC expertise.
The skills you'll need
9. Regulatory expertise – deep knowledge of global sanctions, export controls, and trade laws (US, EU, UK, UN).
10. Risk assessment and due diligence – skilled in screening customers, suppliers, and transactions (analysing ownership structures and identifying red flags).
11. Compliance programme management – experience developing and maintaining policies/procedures, implementing controls, and delivering training on sanctions/trade compliance obligations.
12. Analytical and technical skills – proficient with compliance systems/screening tools.
13. Communication and stakeholder engagement – able to explain complex rules to non-specialists and collaborate across business units.
