Job Description:
The Commercial Estimator will lead the end-to-end costing process for customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs), ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely submissions. Acting as a key link between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and commercial teams, the Commercial Estimator will coordinate cross-functional input to build robust cost models.
This role requires the Commercial Estimator to review and interpret customer CAD data, drawings, and technical documentation, identifying risks and opportunities within proposed manufacturing solutions. The Commercial Estimator will validate assumptions, challenge technical inputs where required, and ensure all estimates align with business strategy, margin expectations, and customer requirements.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Commercial Estimator will support commercial reviews, contribute to process improvement initiatives, and help develop consistent costing methodologies. This is a key role for a Commercial Estimator who enjoys combining technical understanding with commercial insight in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & experience:
• Proven experience in a Commercial Estimator or Cost Estimator role within manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling.
• Ability to interpret CAD models, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience leading RFQ and quotation activities.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail.
• Confident communicator able to work cross-functionally.
• Commercial awareness with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and costing tools.
• Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
