Overview
As an LNAA ambassador, you will lead your team to maximise sales, engage supporters, and enhance awareness of the charity, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where the local community can connect and engage with our mission.
The Shop Manager's primary goal at our new store is to generate income through the sale of donated goods, Gift Aid revenue, recycling opportunities, innovative initiatives, and online sales channels (where applicable) via the effective coordination of the staff and volunteer teams.
This role is critical to the success of our fundraising mission. You will be results driven, well organised, hands on and have the passion and skills to motivate and empower a team of staff and volunteers to maximise the efficient operation of your shop.
* Lead with positivity, inspiring and supporting a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers to success
* Successfully meet or exceed income, and profit contribution targets
* Successfully manage commercial operations including stock management, merchandising, and shop standards, presentation, display, stock levels, space management and stock rotation
* Deliver consistently exceptional customer and supporter experiences, dealing with all situations professionally and positively
* Oversee quality control and pricing strategies to maximise income
* Ensure effective budget management, expenditure and cost controls through finance reporting to drive profit
* Proactively focus on Gift Aid income ensuring full HMRC compliance
* Support your team by ensuring a safe working environment throughout the shop, back of house and external areas, remaining fully compliant with the Health & Safety and Safeguarding Policies
* Work within the guidelines of the Retail Operations Manual, playing an active part in seeking ways to improve procedures
* Work closely with Volunteer Management to recruit, induct and retain volunteers, ensuring excellent inductions and support
* Always ensure adequate staffing cover and clear, timely communication to all staff and volunteers regarding rotas and timetables
* Understand your shop with up-to-date performance analysis, proactively managing shop layout and stock to address any underperformance
* Actively support the wider retail team
* Ensure all admin deadlines are met
* Actively engage with the local community by building relationships, and hosting innovative events
* Foster an innovative and proactive approach to recycling, alternative revenue streams and platforms, ensuring minimal waste disposal costs whilst being environmentally responsible
* Proactively seek new opportunities and partnerships to boost income and collaborate with other departments across LNAA and external partners
* Promote LNAA with an active interest in the charity's mission and activities.
Essential
* GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent standard of education or vocational qualification
* Strong and effective verbal and written communication
* Previous experience managing a retail environment
* Proven success in people management and motivational experience
* Previous experience supporting and training volunteers
* Experience of supporting diverse groups of people
* High level of organisational skills and ability to strategize and plan operations
* Passionate about providing excellent customer experience
* Computer literate
* Understanding of fashion brands and current trends
* Ability to value antiques, collectables & furniture
* Enthusiastic, energetic and able to manage a high-volume workload
* Flexible with a proactive approach
* Resilient & Reliable
* Excellent people skills with an ability to inspire others
* Ability to work weekends and occasional evenings
* Ability to cover other shop managers in their absence
Desirable
* Previous experience working in a charity retail environment
* Knowledge of local community and geography
* Knowledge of online selling platforms
* Full driving licence / Use of a vehicle for Business use
* Previous experience managing costs budget
