Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated Events Setup & Maintenance Assistant to join our team at Springfields Events Centre. This full-time role requires a hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional events. You will work closely with our Bar and Facilities Manager and Event Centre Manager to ensure every event exceeds client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Event Setup & Breakdown
* Set up function rooms for diverse events including weddings, balls, conferences, meetings, and private functions
* Interpret room layout diagrams and arrange furniture, tables and chairs.
* Install and test audio-visual equipment, lighting, and staging requirements
* Complete thorough breakdown and cleaning of event spaces following functions
* Ensure all equipment is properly stored and maintained after each event
Facilities Maintenance & Problem-Solving
* Complete routine maintenance tasks including cleaning, minor repairs, and facility upkeep
* Be an on-site problem solver, addressing unexpected issues quickly and efficiently
* Conduct pre-event facility checks to ensure everything meets our high standards
* Maintain inventory of setup materials and equipment
* Handle emergency situations with calm professionalism
Client & Team Support
* Provide professional, friendly interaction with clients, vendors, and event guests
* Assist the Bar and Facilities Manager with beverage service setup and breakdown
* Support the Event Centre Manager with operational coordination
* Collaborate effectively with catering staff, external vendors, and the events team
* Communicate any issues or special requirements to management promptly
Quality Assurance
* Conduct final quality checks before events to ensure perfection
* Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the venue
* Monitor and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Experience & Qualifications
* Previous experience in events, hospitality, or facilities management preferred
* Practical maintenance skills and willingness to learn
* Basic understanding of audio-visual equipment advantageous
* Valid driver's licence preferred
* Maths and English Language GCSE minimum grade 4
* References will be asked for and followed up
Physical Requirements
* Ability to lift heavy furniture and equipment (up to 25kg)
* Stand and walk for extended periods
* Work in various weather conditions for outdoor events
* Comfortable working at heights (ladders, staging)
Working Conditions
* Full-time position: 40 hours per week with the potential for overtime
* FLEXIBILITY ESSENTIAL: Must be available to work varied schedules including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
* Shift patterns can vary significantly based on event bookings - no two weeks will be the same
* Event-driven schedule: Working hours determined by client needs and event timings
* Fast-paced environment with seasonal peaks
* Indoor and outdoor work depending on events
* Successful candidate must demonstrate genuine flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules

* Competitive salary: circa £26, 500 per annum based on a standard 40-hour week
