Building Services Manager
East Midlands
An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Manager to join the team here at Galliford Try, Building East Midlands.
The Building Services Manager will manage the production of outsourced design and direct the design and installation of services and associated builders work to meet project targets of time, cost, and quality. To manage the Mechanical and Electrical Services Consultants and Sub Contractors throughout the design, installation, and testing commissioning of the services installation. The role is for experienced M & E Managers who have the capability to take on greater responsibility. It can also be a developmental role towards a Senior M&E Manager position.
This is a full‑time, permanent role for projects across the East Midlands and Northern Home Counties. The Regional Office is located in Leicester and GT operates an Agile Working policy.
What you will be doing:
* Manage all discipline sub-contractors to produce a detailed contract programme for their respective works relating to the overall contract programme.
* Ensure all discipline sub-contractors produce a weekly return of labour, plant and materials.
* Establish and maintain a detailed daily site diary.
* Ensure any change to the original design is controlled via the Lead Engineer and approved by the Project Manager.
* Develop a “Best Quality” culture with sub-contractors. Set high standards with regard workmanship. Accept only the best quality and reject inferior workmanship ensuring compliance with the GT BMS quality procedures.
* Ensure all sub-contractors carry out their construction work in compliance with the Drawings and Specification.
* Carry out quality inspections at all stages of construction and maintain the Commissioning Procedure Inspection checklist.
* Prior to taking delivery of all Major Mechanical and Electrical equipment ensure a Factory Acceptance Test has been carried out and obtain a copy. On taking delivery of the equipment carry out a Site Acceptance Test recording variance from the FAT documents and possible delivery damage to the equipment. Record the findings and report variances to the Manufacturers and the Project Manager.
About you:
* Qualification in a recognised Building Services Subject to HNC / Degree Level.
* Previous experience of working with a Main Contractors in a Building Services Role would be an advantage.
* Full working knowledge of aspects and law, including The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and CDM 2015.
* Basic sub-contract processes – contract and commercial.
* Basic appreciation and use knowledge of project management – programming, cash flow analysis, resource planning etc.
