Job Overview
This school is seeking a motivated and passionate French Teacher to join a thriving Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department. The successful candidate will have a strong command of the French language and a desire to foster students’ linguistic skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication. Starting ASAP.
Responsibilities as French Teacher
1. Teach French across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 desirable)
2. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to support language acquisition and fluency
3. Promote an appreciation of Francophone cultures through creative teaching and enrichment activities
4. Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, addressing individual learning needs
5. Contribute to the development of schemes of work and teaching resources
6. Prepare students for internal assessments and external qualifications (e.g., GCSE and A-Level)
7. Organise or support language-related trips, exchanges, and events where appropriate
8. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment encouraging student participation
9. Participate in department meetings, whole-school CPD, and parent consultations
10. Act as a form tutor and contribute to the wider pastoral life of the school
Ideal Candidate
1. Be a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a specialism in French
2. Have experience teaching French at secondary level, with a sound understanding of current MFL pedagogy
3. Be committed to raising achievement and promoting a love for language learning
4. Have strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage all learners
5. Be enthusiastic, proactive, and team-oriented
