Key Responsibilities The role focuses on the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the core AWS Infrastructure and associated systems within SPW. It also focuses on providing support for more junior members of the team and developing standards and processes for other team members to follow. Design and Development of Solutions Design of new solutions in conjunction with the Technology Architects and responsible for taking through appropriate governance and approval channels In line with requirements and technical policy design and develop infrastructure of AWS based solutions Where appropriate select new components/systems in line with requirements Ensure solutions minimise the need for manual intervention and are automated wherever possible Define best practices, and guide developers in adhering to these. Implementation Work with the change, application and business teams to implement and maintain reliable platform services at SPW Work closely with technical and support teams and colleagues across CTO, SPW and 3rd parties to ensure solutions are documented Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to support the build and deployment of other CTO teams Understand how and where quality can be tested in automated CI/CD pipelines. Take a pro-active approach to minimising outage. Hands on engineering skills in some or all of our core technical stack: TypeScript, Node.js, React (Native), CircleCI, Terraform and AWS. Understand how to build AWS infrastructure to be secure, scalable and resilient. Support In conjunction with first and Second line support teams provide an escalation to 3rd line technical support Design and implement processes to ensure all managed systems are supportable, available, recoverable, secure (patched) and documented Stay up-to-date with relevant frameworks, industry guidelines and best practices. Ensure solution compliance with applicable SPW standards and policies Where applicable provide support documentation to be used by first and 2nd line teams Provide technical mentoring to first line support colleagues and Senior Cloud Engineers Perform Scrum master roles within the team where required. Assess and maintain the good working state of our AWS platform and ensure efficient and effective use of the platform. Supplier Management Manage the technical relationship with Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure suppliers (Microsoft, AWS, Vodafone, Broadcom etc.) Work with suppliers to introduce new and innovative features to the estate Support Service Management and Supplier Management in the ongoing monitoring and renewal of licensing and contracts Qualifications & Skills The successful candidate will possess a strong background and experience of designing, building and troubleshooting infrastructure or cloud based solutions whilst applying an in-depth understanding of best practice. A mix of the following based on discipline focus will be required: Practical experience of designing, implementing, configuring and supporting AWS Cloud Platform components Practical experience of working with serverless functions in AWS. Including the ability to use CI/CD pipelines, deployments using IaC and Terraform Practical experience of cloud based networking at transit gateway and hub/spoke level. Including lambda networking, vpc endpoints and gateways Practical experience of DevSecOps and working closely with InfoSec teams to deliver secure solutions. Including using RBAC, IAM, Cloud Security and 3rd party security tools like AquaSec. Ability to self manage development, tasks and time within both an Agile and traditional delivery approach Experience of Infrastructure and Cloud based Platform and Security best practices Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with complex data and articulate challenges to the level understandable by a lay-person. Excellent communication skills both technical and non-technical to aid stakeholder management Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
