Sonomatic RAIS are seeking an experienced Base Manager to lead operations from our Aberdeen workshop, overseeing the safe and efficient delivery of NDT services. The Role As Base Manager, you will be responsible for all and commercial aspects of the Aberdeen base. You’ll lead a skilled team of technicians and supervisors, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with necessary standards and regulatory requirements. You will coordinate daily operations, manage workshop activities, allocate resources, maintain equipment readiness, and uphold the highest levels of quality and client satisfaction. The role also includes responsibility for compliance auditing, training oversight, and continuous improvement across the facility. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate all workshop operations, ensuring efficient planning, allocation, and execution of all NDT scopes. Manage day-to-day operational control, including equipment readiness, calibration, mobilisation/demobilisation, and resource allocation. Maintain full oversight of job tracking and scheduling through internal trackers, ensuring visibility of progress, priorities, and client deadlines. Deliver turnkey inspection scopes from work allocation through completion, reporting, and invoicing, maintaining alignment with client & commercial targets. Ensure all work adheres to company procedures, client specifications, and HSEQ requirements, with all documentation maintained in an audit-ready state. Conduct and support internal and client audits, leading corrective actions and promoting procedural compliance. Lead, motivate, and develop the team through structured appraisals, training oversight, and daily operational engagement. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop and yard environment, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory standards. Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing clear communication, updates, and feedback. Identify and develop business opportunities by strengthening existing client relationships and expanding Sonomatic’s service offering across the region. Manage purchasing, expenditure, and invoicing, working with the General Manager to monitor margins and operational performance. Drive continuous improvement and innovation, implementing new processes, technologies, and efficiencies to enhance service delivery. About You Minimum 8 years’ experience in a workshop environment with exposure to NDT operations highly desirable. Proven track record in a supervisory or management position within an inspection, fabrication, or testing environment. Demonstrable experience managing workshop operations, including personnel, planning, equipment control, and quality management. Experience in client interface and commercial control, including quotation preparation, invoicing, and margin management. Proven ability to deliver inspection scopes from planning through execution and reporting. Proven leader with a focus on building high-performing teams, promoting engagement, and maintaining a positive, motivated culture.
