Consultant psychiatrist - Low Secure Forensic Service, York
The post holder will have RC responsibilities for up to 10 male inpatients detained on restricted and unrestricted sections of the MHA Act. They will serve as the consultant psychiatrist for approximately 20 outpatients and provide access assessments on behalf of the Humber Coast and Vale secure provider collaborative. The role includes providing risk assessment and management advice for colleagues in acute services, with an expected assessment frequency of about 2 per month.
The post holder will provide excellent clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, supporting service users to achieve optimal mental wellbeing, reduce risk of offending, promote social inclusion, and facilitate transition into the community. They will deliver high-quality, efficient, and effective care for service users, working collaboratively in a trauma-informed manner. Additionally, the role involves teaching, training, and supervising junior medical staff and other professionals, while complying with the requirements of the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
The post holder will also join the Tees Esk and Wear Valley general adult on-call rota.
