About the role
Ceredigion County Council is seeking two Independent Members to join its Ethics and Standards Committee, established under the Standards Committees (Wales) Regulations. The Committee plays a vital role in upholding integrity in local democracy by supporting adherence to the Code of Conduct, hearing allegations of misconduct, and imposing sanctions where necessary. We are looking for individuals with integrity, sound judgement, and a commitment to high standards in public life who want to make a positive difference in Ceredigion.

Where you'll work
Democratic Services
We play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer. Our key functions include:
1. Corporate Service Support: PA and Administrative support; Business support including project management and minute taking.
2. Democratic Services: Councillors; Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Regulatory Committees.
3. Electoral Services: General and local elections; Management of electoral register.
4. Communications Team: Manage communication activities corporately; support services in campaigns and projects; deal with the press and media; develop and issue press releases; manage social media pages.
5. Translation: Documents and simultaneous translation.
6. Welsh Language Standards: Operational; Policy making; Promotion; Monitoring; Service delivery.
