Job Overview
We have an exciting opportunity of a permanent post of Clinical Skills Facilitator within the Undergraduate Department at Bath Academy within the RUH. You will be a key member of the team supporting the Medical Dean and Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTFs) in the delivery of the University of Bristol Undergraduate medical curriculum.
This is a 24 hour per week post (ideally Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday)over 45 weeks of the year. You will not work for 7 weeks over July and August when the medical students have their summer holiday.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibility of the role will be developing, facilitating, evaluating and delivering the clinical skills teaching programme to University of Bristol medical students, in line with curriculum requirements.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* 2 year minimum working in the NHS
* Registered Nurse
Desirable criteria
* Teaching Qualification
* OSCE Assessors Course
* SIM Train the Trainer Course
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of working in a clinical environment
* Evidence of recent clinical experience with acutely unwell/deteriorating patients
* Experience of designing, delivering and evaluation training
* Competence in the skills described in the CAPS logbook
* Ability to manage own workload, work independently and accurately to defined procedures
* Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development
Desirable criteria
* Experience/evidence of teaching medical students in a variety of group sizes
* Experience of facilitating simulation based education
* Achieved a Mental Health Awareness course or similar

* Physical Skills - demonstrate manual dexterity to take blood, cannulate etc.
* Physical effort - Move/manual handle patients and equipment. walk from department to department regularly
* Emotional effort - Occasionally dealing with conflict or difficult situations e.g. failing students, students struggling with mental health issues and other pastoral issues
Working Environment requirements
Essential criteria
* Involves direct contact with bodily fluids etc. when involved in clinical care
* Safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
* Occasional risk of verbal aggression from patients and staff members

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
