We are looking for an enthusiasticand experiencedLeadData Engineerfor a fixed-termcontractrolethat will provideadditionalleadership capacity and support ourin-houseLead Data Engineer withoverseeingmultiple workstreams and data engineers delivering these workstreams. The teamisresponsible forintegrating,transformingand making data available across the whole of theorganisation, building,andmaintainingdata pipelines for our on-prem databases and cloud data warehouse,making this a highprofileand rewarding opportunity.
You’llbealeadengineer with many years of integration and data modelling/data warehouse experience, as well asbeinggreatatmanaging and coaching your engineers.You’llbe confident in solving dataproblemsand be able to clearly communicate your ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholdersand bring about change.You’llalso be working with some of the industry-leading data technologies and will be given the opportunity to develop yourexpertisein these as well as your broader career.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Oversee multiple workstreams and data engineers working to deliver theseworkstreams.
2. Work alongside our Lead Data Engineer to deliverour data engineering strategy covering standards, policies, tools, and techniques, to drive the team and practice forward.
3. Work with DevOps and QA communities to enable transformation to an automated, continuous deployment model.
4. Coach engineersin building the best solutions andautomatingtesting and deployment of their code.
5. Work closely with Architects to define best-in-class data integration, management, and reporting solutions; ensuring technical complexity is managed,documented,and shared,to make sure solutions are easilymaintainedand reusable.
6. Design and implementation ofappropriate observability(monitoring and alerting) across our Data platforms.
Youshouldhave:
7. Experience working with ETL/ELT tools, includingAzureDataFactoryanddbt,developing a wide variety of integration solutionsincorporatingAPIs, files, databases, etc.
8. Experience with database platforms,includingSnowflake, Azure SQL DatabaseandMS SQL Server,along with excellent SQL skills.
9. Experience with performance tuning,data migration strategiesboth on-prem and cloud,and relational database design,particularly in the development of business intelligence solutions.
10. Experience of working with a wide variety of stakeholdersincluding product owners, delivery managers,architects,andthird-partysuppliers.
11. Experience with data masking policies, GDPR, auditing access and securing sensitive data sets.
12. Experience ofcommunicating and documentingtechnical design proposals
13. Experiencecoaching,mentoring,and guiding Data Engineers
14. Excellent communication and collaboration skills
You might have:
15. Experience with transforming data usingPython along with an understanding of data science and the underlying data engineering needed to make it work.
16. Experience withDataOps, automating the promotion and release of data engineering artefacts, automating testing and pipeline optimisation.
17. Experience providing support, sometimes on-call, for your data systems.
