 
        
        This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer with knowledge of high, medium, low and extra-low voltage electrical systems and equipment to join the Environment Agency’s Standards and Engineering team as a Senior Electrical Engineer. Expertise in control systems design and SCADA/telemetry systems would be beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide technical engineering leadership and support across the organization to deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable assets.
 * Develop, deliver, and maintain electrical engineering standards and safety rules for HV & LV power and control systems.
 * Oversee competency and skills guidance for employees working on electrical systems and equipment.
 * Act as a national incident response role holder as required, including out‑of‑hours duties.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Good working knowledge of Electricity at Work regulations and BS 7671 IET wiring regulations.
 * Experience with control systems, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, BS EN 13489, and telemetry/SCADA.
 * Familiarity with high and low voltage generation and distribution systems.
 * Experience in developing safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements.
 * Proficiency in testing and isolation of high/low voltage systems and proving dead.
 * Understanding of risk‑based electrical maintenance philosophy and reliability processes.
 * Drafting and publishing electrical policy, instructions, and guidance.
 * Excellent work management, team‑working, and communication skills.
 * UK driving licence.
 * Current membership of a recognised engineering institution and Chartered Engineer registration with the UK Engineering Council (or evidence of working towards registration within 12 months).
