Position Overview
The System Owner / Technical Lead MES oversees the full lifecycle of manufacturing execution systems, ensuring alignment with operational needs and technological innovation. This role requires balancing technical expertise with strategic vision to optimize manufacturing processes and maintain system integrity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve MES applications and systems
2. Collaborate closely with other members of the cross-functional team including production managers, engineers, and IT staff to define system requirements and design manufacturing solutions
3. Orchestrate clean, efficient, and maintainable code for MES systems, adhering to best practices and coding standards
4. Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and share knowledge with the team regarding manufacturing execution systems
5. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing MES systems to ensure optimal manufacturing operations
6. Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle for manufacturing systems, from concept to deployment and maintenance
7. Stay updated with emerging MES technologies and apply them to improve existing manufacturing systems and processes
8. Work closely with QA teams to ensure MES applications are of the highest quality and meet manufacturing standards
9. Assist in the estimation of tasks, identify potential roadblocks in manufacturing processes, and propose solutions
10. Optimize MES systems for speed, scalability and compliance across production facilities
Key Requirements
11. Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in IT Systems operations, with a focus on regulatory and Quality Solutions.
12. Experience with software development methodologies (, Agile, Scrum) in manufacturing environments
13. Strong knowledge of MES principles and software engineering patterns
14. Demonstrated experience with Apriso platform and other MES technologies
15. Experience with version control systems (, Github) for manufacturing software development
16. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for addressing complex manufacturing challenges
17. Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with production teams and stakeholders
18. Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for manufacturing software
19. Understanding of manufacturing processes and how MES systems integrate with other enterprise systems (ERP, PLM, etc.)
Education & Qualifications
20. A Masters / Bachelor's degree in Business, Information technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
21. Itil 4, Prince 2 or GMP is a plus
Travel Requirements
22. Position involve travel up to 10% of the time, mostly within Europe, Asia Pacific, and Americas.
23. Most trips will include overnight travel.
