Introduction

We are seeking an Interim Financial Accountant to provide additional resource during a very busy time in Financial Accounts. This role will involve leading within a number of key areas and supporting the existing team members as we look to implement improvements and change within the department. The successful candidate will assist and support the Senior Manager - Finance Reporting in this work and will be working with colleagues across the finance team.

The Interim Financial Accountant will be working on a number of tasks including balance sheet review and controls, reserves accounting, processes across the finance department (in conjunction with retail and children's services colleagues) and preparation for the annual audit. This is a role that requires excellent accountancy skills, an in-depth understanding of process and controls and an ability to deliver quality outputs. You will have a resilient personality and be willing to be involved in all aspects of the work – from transactional working within balance sheet accounts through to advising on process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with the skills and experience we need to make a real difference to how we work within the finance team.

Experience required: -

1. Experience of working in large complex organisations with large and geographically spread operational delivery models
2. Experience of delivering on objectives within tight deadlines
3. Experience of process review and ability to identify new, innovative and best practice ways of working to deliver improvements.
4. Engaging and influencing stakeholders, effectively handling challenging relationships and delivering complex messages in a user friendly manner
5. Proven experience in a group accounting structure
6. Experience of project management and delivery of change
7. Ability to show leadership, make complex decisions and recommendations and champion change
