Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Services Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and specifying all aspects of mechanical engineering in accordance with current guidelines, standards, regulations, and project deliverables.
Main Objectives
* Design and specify mechanical services engineering solutions to meet project requirements
* Contribute to the development and mentoring of early careers engineers
* Champion quality and compliance controls within local teams and projects
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
You will provide engineering services design and consultancy work under the direction of the line manager or project lead. This includes producing design deliverables, site surveys, construction stage duties, client liaison, project management, costing, and ensuring progress against the project brief.
* Check calculations and production of detailed drawings to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project brief, and customer requirements
* Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary team members to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable solutions
* Contribute to the preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, fee estimate sheets, scopes of work, and change controls as required
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Membership of Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) working towards Chartered Member status
* Demonstrable experience of delivering projects in at least one sector that BakerHicks operates in
* Confident communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas
* An ability to develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders that deliver long-term benefits
* Design, technical detailing, and specification writing experience
* Essential technical experience: Design of Mechanical Building Services systems, including HVAC and Public Health
Desirable Qualifications
The following qualifications would be beneficial:
* Experience of delivering multi-disciplinary projects in several sectors that BakerHicks operates in
* Understanding of commercial elements of projects
* Experience in using specialist software such as IES Thermal Modelling, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, NBS Create / Chorus
