What's involved with this role:

JOB TITLE: Housing Building Safety Lead - Fire and Building Safety
REF: Warwick 5273275
Pay rate: £26.86 to £27.95 per hour PAYE, DOE

The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Building Safety Lead for a Housing department, to ensure that the Council complies with relevant fire and building safety legislation and regulations and provide advice and support to senior managers and operational teams.

You will act as the point of contact for the Building Safety Regulator on High-Risk Residential Buildings (HRRBs), reporting performance and promoting a culture of building.

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a social housing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Management, monitoring and delivery of improvements to the Asbestos Management Plan, acting as the Council’s Responsible Officer for asbestos.
Support the adequacy of the Council’s monitoring and compliance regime for all statutory and regulatory property related responsibilities and duties.
Undertake the reviewing and developing property related compliance policies, procedures, and activities in line with current and emerging legislation and best practice.
Developing and reporting appropriate KPIs and management information
Ensuring all staff within the Assets Team receive and maintain appropriate Health & Safety training.
Maintain robust risk assessments for all property health and safety or regulatory and compliance related issues



What the client is looking for:

Knowledge in building safety and ability to function as the competent person to fulfil new and emerging legislative requirements.
Degree level qualification, or equivalent membership e.g. RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), MCIOB (Charted Member Institute of Building), CABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers)
NEBOSH General Certificate held or working towards qualification.
Educated to NEBOSH Diploma level (or working towards)
Previous experience of working in a social housing environment - desirable
ISO 9001/18001 Auditor qualification.
High level of experience of contributing towards formulation, implementation and delivery of Health and Safety Policies, Procedures and Processes.
Experience of managing a team and/or people in a similar environment, able to manage, motivate and develop staff in a logical, controlled, and timely manner.
Significant experience of planning, managing and undertaking surveys and data collection projects.
Demonstrable evidence of improving a property related health & safety service.
Experience of liaising directly with clients and stakeholders.
Experience of managing contractor and consultant performance
Experience of planning and managing budgets.
Experience of report writing and making recommendations to senior managers.
