About the Post

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and committed History Teacher to join our outstanding Humanities team at Twynham School on a maternity cover basis. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire excellence in a subject that plays a central role in our curriculum and to contribute to a department that is both ambitious and collaborative.

The successful candidate will be joining a high-performing team that works across both Twynham School and The Grange School, delivering a rich and engaging History curriculum that challenges students and fosters a deep love of learning. While the role is based at Twynham School, there may be occasional travel to The Grange School for departmental collaboration.

This post would suit a colleague who is passionate about History and committed to delivering high-quality teaching that enables all students to achieve their potential. Whether you are an experienced teacher or at the beginning of your career, this is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and forward-thinking school.

Twynham School is part of the Twynham TGS federation, which is firmly established in Christchurch and continues to develop an exceptional vision for young people across the town. We are proud of our inclusive ethos, our commitment to academic excellence, and our belief in the transformative power of education.

What our staff say

* Colleagues describe Twynham School as a place where they feel valued and part of a collaborative team. They appreciate the wealth of professional development opportunities and the culture of continuous improvement that supports career growth.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

* To teach students according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the student in school and elsewhere.
* To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
* To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students and groups of students.
* To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
* To ensure a high-quality learning experience for students which meets internal and external quality standards.
* To prepare and update subject materials.
* To use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the curriculum.
* To maintain discipline in accordance with the school's procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and home learning.
* To undertake assessment of students as requested by the school.
* To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

You will be responsible for ensuring excellent progress across your classes and for creating a calm and purposeful learning environment where all students can thrive. You will be confident in planning and delivering lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, and you will be committed to supporting students' academic and personal development. Executive Headteacher's Welcome

Twynham School is an exceptionally special place; a school which believes in the unlimited potential of every child, where people are valued above all and ultimately a place where every child can be successful. Our long-tradition of success is built on two vital pillars; high quality teaching and learning and, most importantly, the value we place on the very special relationships between students and staff.

I feel incredibly honoured to lead such a remarkable school. At Twynham we care about the individual and pride ourselves in the warmth of our community in which all of our students feel valued. Of course examination results matter and at Twynham our students consistently achieve excellent results in all areas giving them access to far-reaching opportunities. However this is just one aspect of Twynham and students are supported to show ambition both within and beyond the classroom.

Mr Matthew Woodville

Executive Headteacher

Curriculum

Underpinning our philosophy of being 'ambitious for all our students' is a broad, balanced, relevant and exciting curriculum which ensures continued progression and development, both academic and personal. We hope that it will enable students to leave school with strong morals, a tolerant and enquiring mind and a positive, well-rounded outlook.
