Attendance Officer - Harrow (January 2026 Start)

What You'll Be Doing

Monitoring daily student attendance, punctuality, and absence patterns to ensure accurate and timely records.

Following up on unexplained absences through phone calls, texts, and emails to parents and carers.

Working closely with pastoral teams, form tutors, and senior leaders to identify attendance concerns early.

Building positive relationships with students and families to remove barriers to regular attendance.

Preparing attendance reports, data summaries, and analyses to support school decision-making.

Coordinating meetings with parents, external agencies, and internal staff to address persistent absence.

Supporting safeguarding procedures and ensuring all attendance-related actions comply with statutory requirements.

Promoting a culture of high expectations, responsibility, and excellent attendance across the school.

What We're Looking For

Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.

Confident communicator-comfortable speaking with parents, students, staff, and external agencies.

Ability to remain calm, professional, and approachable in a busy school environment.

A genuine commitment to supporting young people and improving educational outcomes.

Experience in a school office, attendance, safeguarding, or pastoral role is beneficial but not essential.

Strong IT skills, particularly with MIS systems (training can be provided).

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
