Role: Panama Packing Fitter

We are on the hunt for a ‘Panama Packing Fitter’ to come and join our Panama Engineering team based out of our Castleford site.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor on a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for providing mechanical maintenance services to all machinery and equipment used for the packing of sugar confectionery.
You will have key relationships with other departments including but not limited to; Production, Packing, HSE, Technical Services and Engineering.

Hours of work:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday
Monday - Friday = 12 - hour shifts (06:00 – 18:00)
Saturday and Sunday = 10 - hour shifts (06:00 – 16:00)

1. Completing jobs in line with the preventative maintenance schedule
2. Responding quickly and effectively to all breakdowns
3. Preparing machines in line with the planning schedule including carrying out changeover where required
4. Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with the standards expected in the food industry
5. Carrying out project / installation work as requested
6. Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with any permit to works, Job recording, fire alarm muting, Health & Safety and hygiene set system of work
7. To complete fabrication work including; milling, turning, welding, pneumatics and hydraulics
8. Installation and commissioning of packing machinery
Do you have the right ingredients?
9. A mechanical Apprenticeship is essential
10. A manufacturing background with experience of case packers and palletising systems is essential
11. Practical problem-solving skills
12. Experience in the installation and commissioning of packing machinery
13. Good communication skills
14. The ability to make decisions under pressure
15. Good IT skills
16. A manufacturing background with experience of various types of packing would be ideal
