We havean exciting opportunity for an Advanced Paediatric Dietitian at BuckinghamshireHealthcare NHS Trust to join the Nutrition and Dietetics team at StokeMandeville Hospital. You will be responsible for working as an autonomouspractitioner and acting as a source of clinical expertise in paediatric andneonatal care. You will manage and support a complex caseload of patients,providing high-quality, evidence-based dietetic services as part of amulti-disciplinary team on the paediatric and neonatal units. Additionally, youwill provide specialised assessment, treatment, and support for paediatricinpatients and outpatients, and offer occasional cover for other specialistdietitians when required.
Main duties of the job
As anAdvanced Paediatric Dietitian, you will be responsible for planning, providing,and evaluating the paediatric dietetic service in collaboration with thePaediatric Dietetic Team Lead and Nutrition and Dietetic Service Manager. Youwill manage and support the clinical and professional development of juniorDietitians, Dietetic Support Workers, and student dietitians. You will alsowork closely with the paediatric multidisciplinary team, supporting trainingfor other healthcare professionals and contributing to the ongoing developmentand improvement of the service.
Job responsibilities
* To demonstrate a high standard of clinical knowledge and practicalexperience in general dietetics, providing specialist expertise in paediatricand neonatal care across designated wards and clinics.
* To undertake comprehensive, patient-centred assessments, interpretingbiochemistry, anthropometrics, clinical conditions, and diet history, and useadvanced clinical reasoning to develop personalised nutritional goals.
* To develop and implement treatment plans for patients on caseload,providing expert advice to patients, carers, and clinicians, and usingmotivational techniques to optimise dietary intake.
* To maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely records of allassessments, interventions, and clinical activities in line with BDA, HCPC,Trust, and departmental standards.
* To liaise effectively with medical, nursing, multidisciplinary teams, andexternal agencies to support discharge planning, continuity of care, and theprovision of specialised enteral feeds and nutritional support.
* To participate in audit, policy development, and service improvementinitiatives, assessing clinical outcomes and evidence-based practice torecommend and implement changes for enhanced patient care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Dietitian with paediatric assessment and nutrition support experience.
* Experience with enteral feeding and discharge planning.
* Optional experience in eating disorders and neonatal nutrition.
* HCPC recognised dietetics degree.
* Able to travel to other sites and perform accurate anthropometrics.
