Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Communication Surveillance Lead for a 9 Months contract based in Manchester, London or Edinburgh (2 times per week in the office).
Purpose of the role:
As Communication Surveillance Lead you will own and enhance the communications surveillance framework, ensuring effective detection and management of Market Abuse risk across electronic and voice communications.
You will work on calibration, model governance, coverage design, and data quality oversight, working closely with business, risk, compliance and surveillance teams to maintain robust, defensible controls.
What you'll do:
Own communications surveillance calibration, optimisation and model governance.
Design and maintain surveillance coverage models aligned to market abuse risk.
Lead red-flag creation, testing and independent deployment testing.
Assess data quality, lineage and control effectiveness feeding surveillance models.
Perform adequacy and effectiveness assessments of surveillance controls.
Conduct regulatory horizon scanning and rules mapping to surveillance coverage.
Identify control gaps, manage issues, and deliver remediation action plans.
The skills you'll need:
Strong understanding of Market Abuse risk and regulatory obligations (MiFID-related).
Proven experience in communications surveillance calibration and model governance.
Hands-on experience with Behavox or similar surveillance tooling.
Knowledge of trade and communication surveillance techniques and industry standards.
Experience designing and testing surveillance controls.
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate complex issues clearly.
