Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)
Reporting to: The Employer
Location: Harvington, Kidderminster DY10
Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable and assist the employer who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.
About the employer: Our client is a 70-year-old female living in the Harvington area of DY10 who is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support for 20-26 hours per week. Our client is an ambulatory wheelchair user due to a spinal injury several years ago. Our client also has a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue M.E which results in brain fog, nerve pain and she can be very sleepy due to her condition and medication.
Responsibilities
* Social duties: keep in touch and socialise with family and friends; access the local community; attend medical appointments.
* Personal care: support with bathing/showering, dressing.
* Domestic duties: support with grocery shopping, cooking nutritious vegetarian meals and snacks (recipes available), cleaning, changing linen, laundry. Collect prescriptions when required.
* These duties may vary from day-to-day.
Person specification
* Values: someone who is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, able to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, cheerful, trustworthy and understands equality and diversity or has a good sense of humour.
* Specific requirements: mature lady to be the new Personal Assistant. Must have previous care experience. Must be a driver as the client has a wheelchair accessible vehicle which is a large van. Someone with experience and knowledge of allergies, as the client has a lot of allergies which are controlled by medication.
* Other: due to the nature of this role including medical and personal care, the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.
Details
* Hours of work: 20-26 hours per week – Flexible hours at the employer’s discretion. Occasional Saturdays required but good notice will be given.
* Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour + £16.88 for Saturdays
* Skills, qualifications, and experience
* Essential: Driving licence – client has a large van; previous care experience; moving & handling training; confidentiality; computer literate; good at building relationships
* Preferred: good communicator; a good listener; ability to support people with complex needs.
* Successful applicants will require DBS checks and employment references.
* This role is part funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
