Are you a patient, caring, and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a real impact in a child's life? We are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with sight difficulties in a friendly, inclusive primary school in Sedgefield.
About the Role:
* Position: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant
* Location: Sedgefield
* Start Date: ASAP
* Hours: Full-time, term-time only
* Contract: Ongoing supply (potential for long-term placement)
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored, consistent support, helping the child access learning and participate fully in school life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a child with visual impairment
* Adapting resources and instructions to suit the child’s needs
* Promoting independence, confidence, and inclusion
* Liaising with teaching staff and specialist professionals to ensure appropriate support
* Creating a safe, encouraging learning environment
Requirements:
* Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly visual or sensory impairments (preferred)
* A calm, nurturing approach with strong communication skills
* Adaptability and sensitivity to the needs of children with disabilities
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
* A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
