About The Opportunity
This is a chance to grow into a specialist role within a supportive, high-performing team known for its collaborative culture and international reach. You'll work on a wide variety of projects, primarily in transportation, water and environment with responsibilities including
Site visits and concrete materials assessments
Specification for concrete designs and repairs and report preparation
Literature reviews and modelling
Internal presentations and client engagement
You'll be part of a team that thrives on adaptability and teamwork, contributing to high-profile projects. The environment is forward-thinking, with opportunities to work across multiple projects and develop your professional profile.
Managing change is business as usual for our team. We generally work on short commissions at short notice, so you need to be adaptable and be able to contribute to bringing in more work and clients.
Here's what you'll need
A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Materials Science
Practical experience in contracting or consultancy within the construction industry including considerable site experience and associated HSE. Note that candidates with academic experience only are not eligible for this position
Strong understanding of concrete and other construction materials, including
* Assessment of deterioration and defects
* Deterioration mechanisms and modelling
* Best practices for new construction and repair
* Specification using UK/EU codes and national guidance
Excellent communication, collaboration, and report-writing skills
Ability to manage deadlines and take ownership of your work
Nice to Have
Membership of relevant professional institutions and are working towards chartered status
Experience with additional materials such as steel, coatings, polymers or waterproofing
Lab, or research experience with inspection and testing
A strong record of continuing professional development
Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g., CSCS card, confined space training, water training)
A valid driving's license, where needed for site attendance
