Overview

An accurate, confidential and supportive administration service for patients, clinical teams, carers and internal and external agencies (e.g. Local Authority, Third Sector, CAIS) to provide a safe and efficient patient pathway and support to families and carers. The post holder will support the delivery of a comprehensive high quality medical secretarial administrative service.


Main duties

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced secretary for the Acute Paediatrics Department. This is a part time, permanent post, which covers a range of administrative tasks to maintain a prompt and accurate secretarial service. You must have the ability to produce efficient and accurate typing and will therefore have previous secretarial experience. You will have excellent keyboard and audio typing skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook. The ability to prioritise your work and be highly organised is paramount to this post, as is excellent interpersonal communication skills, which includes a friendly telephone manner, whilst also providing a professional, sensitive manner and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Qualifications

Essential criteria

* RSA level 2 or equivalent demonstrable experience
* NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience
* IT related qualification CLAIT plus /ECDL or equivalent

Desirable criteria

* AMSPAR – City & Guilds L3
* NVQ Customer Service L3


Skills

Essential criteria

* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes
* Experience of working in a busy office environment
* Communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
* Experienced in planning, organising and prioritising own workload
* Flexible and adaptable to changing service demands
* Excellent organisational skills

* Experience of working in the NHS
