Job Overview
We have various hours for Band 3 Health Care Assistants within our Ophthalmic Team, which includes Ophthalmic Outpatients, A&E and Pre‑op Assessment Service. We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly, flexible and reliable individuals who can use initiative. This demanding role requires experience of working in a hospital setting, Band 2, and readiness to handle a fast‑paced patient flow.
Responsibilities
* Visual Acuity assessment
* Intra‑ocular Pressure measurement
* Instillation of a variety of eyedrops, understanding their pharmaceutical value
* Visual Field Assessment
Contribute to maintaining an effective patient flow by carrying out the above assessments efficiently and safely for a high volume of patients. Participate in and understand the specialist care required for our ophthalmic patients.
Person Specification
* Qualifications – Demonstrates willingness & capability to undertake NVQ level 3
* Experience – Demonstrable experience in a hospital setting working at NVQ level 2
* Knowledge – Reputation for high standard of patient care
* Skills – Excellent communication skills; ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships; basic computer skills
* Other – Supportive of colleagues and patients
