Trainee Management Accountant

Are you ready for an interesting, varied and rewarding role? We're looking for someone to join our supportive finance team, where you'll collaborate with service managers and senior clinicians to help deliver the Trust's Clinical Strategy, People Plan, and Quality Promise.
You'll provide high-quality, interpret and advise on good quality, reliable financial information to both finance and non-finance colleagues, helping services stay on track and achieve financial balance. This is a great opportunity to work across a range of functions and build professional relationships throughout the Trust.
About You:
Educated to A Level (or equivalent)
Experienced in finance and using computerised accounting software
Able to complete tasks in an agreed timeframe
Numerate and detail focussed
We support professional development and may be able to offer a study package for those working towards accountancy qualifications.
Main duties of the job
You will report to the Senior Management Accountant, and your responsibilities will include:
Help produce monthly management reports and the Trust's statutory annual accounts, utilising Trust financial systems.
Post accounting journals--including accruals and prepayments--to ensure the financial position of services is reflected.
Explain complex financial data and technical concepts to colleagues without a finance background, ensuring information is understood.
Communicate with budget holders and service management to provide informed advice and contribute to the delivery of the Trust's Value Improvement Programme

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above.
* Highly computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Degree in Accounting/Finance related field
* CCAB part qualified accountant (e,g. Diploma in Accountancy)
Experience
* Experience of working in a finance field, preferably within the NHS
* Experience of using computerised accounting software
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of accounting principles
* Ability to communicate with Trust staff (written and oral)
* Ability to organise and prioritise work given time constraints
* Experience or Knowledge of finance issues affecting the NHS such as PbR

* Ability to work both as part of a team and on own initiative
* A pleasant, helpful and confident personality
