The Trust is the Head of the Clinical Research Network for the Eastern Region and is home to one of the three national Radiology Academies.
Our Radiology Department continues to benchmark positively across a range of key performance indicators. Successful applicants will work collaboratively within the CT team to deliver safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging to all service users, supporting clinical safety and excellent patient care. This post requires a flexible and enthusiastic radiographer to work 12.5-hour shifts as part of a 24/7 CT service, including evenings, nights and weekends.
Main duties of the job
The QSI-accredited Radiology Department is committed to delivering patient-focused services within a framework of quality, innovation and staff development. Our approach to service delivery and workforce development has an excellent and proven track record, including the attainment of national awards for cardiac imaging.
The Computed Tomography (CT) Department operates five scanners at the main hospital site, including a Siemens Somatom Drive (dual source), Edge+, two Siemens X.cite scanners and a GE Optima 660. The Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) houses four Canon CT scanners: one Aquilion ONE PRISM and three Aquilion Prime SP scanners, providing high-quality imaging services closer to the community.
Working within CT offers the opportunity to gain extensive experience across a wide range of CT equipment and imaging procedures, including trauma, musculoskeletal, neurological, vascular, interventional, paediatric, oncology and cardiac imaging.
As a Band 5 CT Radiographer, you will rotate between the main hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre, gaining competence in CT scanning, intravenous cannulation and the administration of contrast media. You will be expected to maintain high professional standards, adhere to the HCPC code of conduct, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing continuous professional development. The role includes participation in shift patterns, including evenings, nights and weekends.

Job Purpose
To deliver a professional, high-quality and responsive diagnostic imaging service to patients in a safe and effective clinical environment.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, acting as a role model at all times and demonstrating the Trust’s PRIDE values of People Focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
* Undertake a broad range of diagnostic imaging examinations to a high professional standard, independently or as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* Adapt imaging techniques as required to meet individual patient needs, including patients in pain, distress, with reduced mobility or complex clinical conditions.
* Assess patients prior to examinations, ensuring preparation requirements are met and care is planned appropriately.
* Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients, gaining cooperation and consent while maintaining dignity, privacy and comfort.
* Recognise abnormal imaging findings and raise concerns appropriately to senior radiographers, advanced practitioners, clinical leads or radiologists.
* Liaise effectively with clinicians, ward staff and patients to support safe, timely and effective patient pathways.
* Ensure the safe movement, transfer and positioning of patients, including those with spinal trauma or complex needs.
Professional Practice and Governance
* Maintain professional accountability in line with HCPC registration requirements and the College of Radiographers Code of Conduct.
* Work in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and local protocols at all times.
* Maintain a safe working environment by complying with health and safety legislation, radiation protection and infection prevention and control standards.
* Report incidents, accidents and near misses promptly using Trust reporting systems and contribute to investigations where required.
* Participate in departmental quality assurance programmes, audit and research activities.
* Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene in line with Trust uniform and appearance policies.
Workload Management and Service Delivery
* Plan and prioritise own workload in response to clinical urgency and service demand.
* Contribute to the effective day‑to‑day operation of the imaging service, working collaboratively to minimise delays and optimise patient flow.
* Ensure all patient documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with departmental protocols and data protection legislation.
* Record and manage imaging data correctly on PACS and associated imaging IT systems, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
* Maintain a full working knowledge of imaging equipment and relevant IT systems, reporting faults and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
Education, Training and Development
* Contribute to the education and support of undergraduate and postgraduate students, radiographic assistants and other staff as appropriate.
* Participate fully in mandatory training, in‑service education, appraisal and personal development planning.
* Maintain a reflective CPD portfolio to support ongoing professional development.
* Engage in service evaluation, innovation and problem‑solving to support continuous improvement within the department.
Communication and Teamwork
* Communicate effectively with Modality Leads, Consultant Radiologists, clinical colleagues and support staff regarding clinical and operational issues.
* Promote positive and professional working relationships across departments, with patients and the public.

Working Arrangements
* Participate in extended working hours, including 12.5 hour shifts, nights, weekends, bank holidays and on‑call rotas, in line with service requirements.
