Location: Taunton, Somerset
Working Pattern: Monday- Friday 4 days office based / 1 day WFH
Hours: 8.45am-5.15pm (flexible starts/finishes)

In this important role, you'll take the lead on all things bookkeeping across a varied client portfolio. You'll also guide, mentor, and support a small team of junior bookkeepers and accounts assistants - helping them build their skills, confidence, and accuracy.
You'll be the go‑to expert for VAT, C.I.S and bookkeeping queries, ensuring every deadline is met and every client receives an outstanding service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Taking the lead on daily bookkeeping for multiple clients using Xero (plus some QuickBooks)
Managing & mentoring a team of 2-3 junior team members
Preparing and reviewing VAT and C.I.S returns
Reconciling bank, credit card and control accounts
Processing invoices, journals, payroll postings and month-end tasks
Ensuring HMRC compliance across all bookkeeping activity
Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy
Providing training, support and guidance to the bookkeeping team
Building strong relationships with clients and internal colleaguesQualifications and experience:
Solid bookkeeping experience (practice or multi‑client ideal)
Strong Xero skills (QuickBooks beneficial)
Confident preparing VAT & C.I.S returns
Excellent attention to detail and organisation
Friendly, positive communication style
AAT Level 3+ or equivalent experience (desirable)
