The Opportunity At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. As an Operational Development Engineer, you'll have the chance to follow the 18-month Reactor Operator Training programme. You'll be involved in asset management, operational procedures, and resource planning, ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of standards and procedures that support reliable plant operations. This role will require you to be on site at our Hinkley Point C site, including some travel to site storage locations. Pay, Benefits & Culture The salary for this role is paying up to £57,000. What You’ll Be Doing In this role, you'll plan, monitor, and manage activities, risks, and requirements relevant to Pre-Operations. You'll assess design and equipment contract information to ensure enhanced safety and performance during operations. Your input will be crucial in developing standards and procedures for safe and reliable plant operations. You'll maintain interfaces with other HPC departments and entities to integrate future operations requirements into the HPC design. Additionally, you'll manage technical issues impacting plant availability and research operating experience from the wider nuclear industry to achieve world-class performance. Who You Are You have experience developing and reviewing technical information and are a proactive analytical thinker who can work independently. You understand quality arrangements required in the UK nuclear regulated environment or within another highly regulated industry. You possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and IT skills. You have strong commercial awareness and are degree qualified (or equivalent) in an appropriate Engineering or Science discipline. A background within Maintenance and Governance is highly beneficial, this could be within Mechanical or Electrical. Chartered Status, or working towards it, with an appropriate Engineering or Science Institute is preferred. Experience working within a project organisation is essential.
