Are you organised and detail orientated, with previous experience in commercial and contract management? Have you previously worked within a civil engineering consultancy, ideally within the transport sector? Then you could be our new Commercial and Contract Analyst.
Your new role
The Commercial and Contract Analyst provides commercial and administrative support to Transport UK & Ireland Commercial team, working closely with Commercial Managers, Contract Managers and technical teams. The role supports the effective administration of contracts, tendering, pricing, and commercial reporting across highways, bridges, ports, rail, and other transport infrastructure projects.
This position is suited to an organised and detail-oriented individual seeking to build a career in commercial management and contract administration within a transport-focused civil engineering consultancy environment.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Contract Administration
1. Assist with the administration of professional services and sub-consultancy contracts (e.g. NEC Professional Services Contract, NEC4, bespoke consultancy appointments)
2. Maintain accurate contract records including contract review documents, request for non-disclosure agreements etc.
3. Support the preparation, issue, logging, and tracking of contractual reviews and communications in accordance with contract requirements
Commercial and Financial Support
4. Support the preparation of commercial strategies for tenders and own pricing documents for framework contracts – working alongside the Commercial Director and Manager
5. Assist with tracking project budgets, fee forecasts, earned value, and expenditure against agreed fees
6. Maintain commercial trackers, including analysis of tendering outcomes
Reporting and Project Support
7. Assist in the preparation of commercial reports, dashboards, and summaries for internal and client reporting
8. Maintain document control systems, ensuring commercial and contractual records are accurate, complete, and auditable
9. Support internal audits, framework reporting, and client reviews
About you
Essential
10. Strong organisational and administrative skills with a high level of attention to detail
11. Good written and verbal communication skills
12. Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (cost trackers, fee monitoring) and Word
13. Ability to manage multiple tasks across several projects in a consultancy environment
14. Interest in commercial management, contracts, and transport infrastructure projects
Desirable
15. Previous experience in a civil engineering, transport, construction, or professional services consultancy
16. Basic understanding of consultancy contracts (e.g. NEC PSC, NEC4 PSC, framework agreements)
17. Experience assisting with fee management, invoicing, or financial reporting
18. Familiarity with document management systems and project collaboration platforms
19. Working towards, or interest in, a relevant qualification (e.g. commercial management, quantity surveying, business administration)
