About the opportunity
Are you a talented and ambitious individual looking to further your career in Reactor Physics?
Amentum is currently recruiting for a Reactor Physicist to perform complex technical analyses, deliver technical training, and support the theoretical development of our software and nuclear data products.
The nuclear industry is moving away from traditional reactor designs towards new small modular reactor (SMR) and advanced modular reactor (AMR) designs, with improved safety features and lower build costs. These new concepts bring exciting modelling challenges requiring innovative mathematics, physics, engineering, and software engineering techniques.
We seek an enthusiastic physicist to work in various technical teams analyzing a broad range of reactor designs. This role offers excellent opportunities for skill development in physics and nuclear engineering, with potential to lead technical projects and collaborations.
The role will be based at our Dorchester office with opportunities for travel, remote work, and flexible hours. Key responsibilities include:
* Developing mathematical and physical theories
* Performing reactor physics plant analysis
* Delivering technical training
* Developing and refining models and simulations
* Presenting at technical meetings and conferences
* Collaborating with the international research community
* Engaging with international customers
Qualifications
* An undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or related field
* Strong background in mathematical and physical theory
* Programming skills in Fortran, Python, or Java
* Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
* Self-motivated with a passion for nuclear physics
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
