Job summary
Are you an experienced gynae oncology nurse looking for the next step? Velindre Cancer Centre is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Gynae Oncology Team. You will be an autonomous practitioner providing expert advice, support and person‑centred care to a defined group of patients. You will work autonomously and as part of the wider MDT to provide effective and innovative care. You will take a key role in driving quality improvement and service development within the Gynae Site Specific Team and the wider CNS team.
* The clinical nurse specialist for Gynae Oncology will act as a key worker for patients throughout their cancer journey.
* Provide person‑centred compassionate care to patients and their families.
* Holistically assess patients' needs and plan individual person‑centred care around those needs.
* Have an in‑depth knowledge and expertise in the specialty to provide patient information, advice and clinical care; to provide education and be a resource to other health care professionals.
This is a Fixed term /Secondment for 36 months.
Main duties of the job
To act as a key worker providing evidence‑based individualised patient care according to the patient's changing health care needs, through holistic needs assessment (HNA).
To offer patients and families the support of a Clinical Nurse Specialist in symptom control, social, emotional and spiritual care.
To offer advice, support and education to clinical teams across the cancer centre and Local health Boards where appropriate.
To develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the nursing service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
