ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - LITIGATION

The Opportunity
Our Client is a specialist property litigation practice with expertise in residential landlord and tenant matters. We are seeking an experienced solicitor ready to step into an Associate Director role overseeing a talented team of solicitors and paralegals while maintaining key client relationships and ensuring the highest quality of legal service delivery.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in service charge and ground rent recovery (residential and commercial), breaches of covenant, and general landlord and tenant litigation. The position offers a blend of leadership, client management, and technical work, with exposure to complex matters before the County Court and First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).
The Role
* As Associate Director, you will play a pivotal role managing client relationships. Your responsibilities will include:
* Motivating and developing a team of solicitors and paralegals to deliver outstanding results.
* Managing your own caseload of defended service charge, ground rent, and possession matters (residential and commercial).
* Acting as an escalation point of contact for key clients, maintaining regular communication through meetings, progress reports, and strategic reviews.
* Providing expert legal advice on breach of covenant and wider landlord and tenant matters.
* Overseeing performance management, case allocation, and quality assurance within the team.
* Ensuring compliance with procedural deadlines, case management standards, and client reporting requirements.
* Reviewing claims, evaluating the merits of defences and counterclaims, and advising clients on litigation strategy.
* Delivering training and development sessions to junior staff and contributing to the firm’s professional growth.
* Supporting business development initiatives and representing the firm in client and industry events.
* Producing legal insights and thought-leadership content to enhance the firm’s profile.
The Person
* We’re seeking a highly skilled property litigation professional with proven experience in managing people and clients. You’ll be commercially aware, proactive, and confident in both strategic and operational decision-making.
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years’ PQE with strong experience in service charge and ground rent debt recovery (residential and commercial).
* Demonstrable success in managing and developing teams of solicitors and paralegals.
* Excellent client relationship management skills - including experience leading client meetings, preparing performance reports, and acting as the main point of contact for key accounts.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Experience in commercial property litigation, breaches of covenant, and wider landlord and tenant matters is desirable.
* Track record of delivering training, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to practice development.
