About the Role
Lead ADHD Nurse Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber position in Barnsley CAMHS.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality specialist ADHD care to children & young people across Barnsley.
* Manage pre- and post-diagnostic caseloads and undertake comprehensive ADHD assessments.
* Contribute to diagnostic decision-making and provide evidence-based interventions in line with national guidelines.
* Initiate and manage ADHD medication, including titration and ongoing physical & mental health monitoring.
* Work autonomously while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualised treatment plans.
* Apply advanced clinical judgement to assess ADHD within the context of neurodiversity and co‑morbid conditions, including complex mental health, learning, and sensory needs.
* Lead nurse-led clinics, manage medication, and monitor progress to ensure care is safe and effective.
* Provide person‑centred support addressing emotional, behavioural, educational, and social needs.
* Provide guidance to families and schools, develop early intervention strategies, and promote best practice in ADHD care.
* Manage a caseload from referral to discharge, undertaking assessment, intervention, and prescribing with a high level of clinical autonomy.
* Perform physical health monitoring associated with ADHD treatment and deliver psychoeducation to parents, carers, GPs, and schools.
* Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives across primary and secondary care.
* Triage referrals, support clinical decision-making, manage risk including safeguarding, and contribute to holistic care considering comorbidities and wider psychosocial needs.
* Provide clinical supervision, support workforce development, and contribute to training, teaching, and improving access to ADHD assessment and treatment.
Qualifications
* Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber qualification.
* Experience in ADHD assessment and management.
* Advanced clinical judgement and knowledge of national guidelines and best practice.
* Ability to work autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong skills in medication prescribing, monitoring, and psychoeducation.
