At Ashbourne Day Nurseries, we believe that every child deserves to grow and thrive in a caring, fun, and inspiring environment. As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic HR Advisor to join our team and help us create those wonderful experiences for our little learners.
A Bit About Us
Ashbourne Day Nurseries was founded in 2008 by parents, for parents, with our first nursery in Oxley Park, Milton Keynes. Since then, we've grown into a family of nurseries, each offering something unique, from purpose-built spaces to settings on farms and in beautiful listed buildings.
While we are proud of our growth, we're equally committed to maintaining a friendly, warm atmosphere where children, parents, and staff feel like part of the Ashbourne family. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and always put children at the heart of everything we do.
Your Role
Working in our People Team, you play a crucial role in supporting the organisation in day-to-day people matters—from employee relations and performance conversations to recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave, and training.
This role offers a chance to be part of a exciting, fast paced environment while working in a close and supportive team.
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide effective and efficient end-to-end case management support for disciplinaries, appeals, grievances and long term sickness cases. Attend hearings for complex cases and provide advice to management.
* Proactive management of long-term absences, including referrals to Occupational Health as and when appropriate.
* Be the first point of contact for, and manage, maternity, paternity, adoption and flexible working cases.
* Guide managers through the probationary review process.
* Coach and advise managers throughout Performance Management cases.
* Support with the recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
* Collate and provide analysis on monthly HR metrics for use in board level reports.
* Participate in the planning and delivery of employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
* Provide training to managers and employees on HR policies and processes.
* Process new starters, leavers, and contractual changes where necessary.
* Any other duties as required.
About You
We're looking for candidates with proven HR Advisory experience in a fast-paced operational environment, ideally within the Childcare or Education sectors. Experience of end-to-end employee relations case management is required. You should demonstrate the ability to risk assess these cases and make decisions that align with legislation and company policies, while also considering commercial implications.
The ideal candidate will be professional, approachable, and discreet when handling confidential information, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships. You should proactively support employees, managers, and HR colleagues, taking ownership of processes and seeking continuous improvement. A solid understanding of HR, ambition to grow your HR knowledge, and a CIPD qualification (or progress towards one) are advantageous.
What We Offer
* A competitive salary package
* A supportive and friendly work environment where you can really make a difference
* A chance to be part of a team that values creativity, fun, and individuality
