Learning Support Assistant
Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and supportive Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils in the Basingstoke area. This long‑term role focuses on providing additional assistance to children who may need support with learning, confidence, emotional regulation, or accessing the curriculum effectively.
You will work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils remain engaged in lessons, develop independence, and feel confident and supported throughout the school day. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a positive impact on their learning experience.
The role is well suited to candidates from care, support work, youth services, SEN settings, or graduates looking to build meaningful experience in education, psychology, or child‑related fields.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils requiring additional help
Assist pupils with learning tasks, routines, and classroom activities
Help students stay focused, confident, and motivated
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement learning strategies
Encourage independence, resilience, and social development
Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
Calm, patient, and confident in a classroom setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Able to build positive relationships with pupils
Adaptable and reliable
Passionate about supporting children to reach their potential
Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply
Contract Details:
Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Basingstoke
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract: Long‑term
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience with children preferred
SEND experience beneficial but not essential
Safeguarding training can be provided
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
