Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for a part time Crisis Café Support Worker, to work in the Twickenham and Kingston areas. The walk in services provide a vital out-of-hours service supporting individuals experiencing mental health crises.

The successful candidate will be required to work 15 hours per week, working Monday's, Thursday's and Friday's from 5.30PM - 10:30PM, Saturday's from 1:30PM - 10:30PM and Sunday's from 1:30PM - 9PM. There is a requirement to work the occasional weekend shift. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 - 2 months. The pay rate is £13.44 per hour, with £1.95 holiday pay, totalling £15.39 per hour.

Please note; this role covers two services in Twickenham and Kingston.

In this position, you will be expected to:

* Provide person-centred support, information and access to appropriate services for service users, aiming to reduce urgent care admissions

* Work with clients in a 1-2-1 capacity and hold caseloads

* Provide support to reduce crises through developing effective crisis plans that promote de-escalation, recovery and self-management for clients

* Conduct and regularly update risk assessments for service users following operational policies

* Identify the suitability of referrals and review client risks regularly

* Triage people who drop into the service with the support of the Team Coordinator

* Provide on-site activities (developed using service user coproduction) that people who use the service find useful, engaging and of interest

* Offer light refreshments and create a relaxed atmosphere within the service

* Work collaboratively with clients to develop a discharge plan that considers referral onto other services in the community (both internal and external) that can provide ongoing support

* Report incidents in a timely manner with the support of the Team Coordinator or the on-call manager

To apply for this role, you must have:

* Experience of working with people in a mental health crisis or with complex issues

* Experience of facilitating/supporting group work

* Working knowledge of the recovery approach in mental health service provision

* Excellent listening skills & ability to motivate and coach people with mental health issues

* Capable of working under own initiative, planning and prioritising own workloads

* Strong team working skills

* Ability to deal effectively and calmly with challenging situations as they may arise

* Have the resilience to manage emotional situations

* Interests, skills or hobbies that could be used for group activities e.g. art, music, cookery

* Good literacy, maths and IT skills including being able to use CRM systems to log data and use Microsoft Office packages

* Desirable: Mental Health First Aid Training and/or Suicide Prevention Training

Please note; there is parking at both services

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
