Offer description

As a key member of a surgery's management team, this role is responsible for consistently driving exceptional customer service and clinical care, promoting pet wellbeing, delivering preventive services, and treating sick and injured pets.

This role spearheads continuous improvement of the surgery's service capability and the upskilling of colleagues to become a centre of clinical excellence. It is also key to driving turnover and profitability.

If you enjoy working with a close-knit, like-minded team and thrive in a busy yet fun, professional, friendly, and supportive environment, then this could be the opportunity for you.

You will be the Head Vet of a small animal first opinion veterinary practice based in the beautiful Norfolk Broads. The practice is easily accessible with good transport links nearby, including bus and train services.

The ethos is clear: to do the best for the animals in our care and to look after the team with respect and kindness. We pride ourselves on doing the job well.

The vet team enjoys a 4-day week, with a 1 in 3 Saturday rota included within these days, amounting to up to 40 hours per week. The rota is designed to give one 4-day weekend and one 3-day weekend every 6 weeks. Part-time applications will also be considered.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Conducting consultations, investigations, and surgical procedures, practicing outstanding first opinion medicine and surgery, with a focus on preventive and diagnostic healthcare.
* Conducting clinical audits to develop the vet team and improve surgery performance, maintaining a reflective, no-blame culture of clinical audit.
* Investigating and resolving clinical adverse incidents and customer complaints, using these as opportunities to reflect and improve processes, standards, and protocols.
* Influencing and leading the team to change embedded ways of working to improve outcomes.
* Leading by example with a caring, professional attitude towards customers and patients.
* Reading customer, patient, and situational cues to anticipate needs and influence clients to follow best-practice advice.
* Communicating promptly and effectively with customers regarding investigations, treatments, and follow-up care.
* Ensuring inpatients receive appropriate clinical care and effective handovers between colleagues and out-of-hours providers.
* Collaborating with the central leadership team to expand and improve services.
* Being an ambassador and leading the team to adhere to the practice's and CVS Group's values.
* Maximizing the clinic's commercial performance by monitoring KPIs such as transaction values and diagnostic percentages, and pursuing opportunities for improvement.

Ideally, you will have sound commercial acumen.

Our standard benefits include:

* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with a Buy/Sell holiday scheme to purchase additional leave.
* Paid RCVS, VDS, and subscription fees.
* Fully funded CPD opportunities, including internal and external courses and programmes.
* An extra day of leave each year for the first five years.
* Cycle to work scheme and subsidized gym membership.
* Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay.
* Employee Assistance Programme.
* Pension scheme with automatic enrollment.
* Access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions across CVS.
* Colleague discounts on pet products and treatments, including free consultations, discounted drugs, and online pharmacy discounts.
* Access to the company share-save scheme.

CVS is committed to being a fully inclusive workplace where all colleagues are encouraged and supported to be themselves, celebrating diversity and building a workforce representative of our communities and clients.
