Job Summary
Medical Secretary (Part‑time, 30 hours per week, Band 3) in the Living with Pain and ME/CFS Service at Harrogate District Hospital. Provide efficient secretarial support to clinicians and medical staff, including booking appointments, managing referrals, answering enquiries, recording minutes, and general office duties. Work within the Trust’s Confidentiality Policy.
Responsibilities
* First point of contact for patient enquiries via phone and email
* Process and triage referrals promptly
* Maintain staff ledgers with patient appointment slots for the upcoming year
* Record and type minutes from team meetings
* Order stock and receive invoices
* Support the team with queries/requests and general office duties
Essential Qualifications
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and basic internet/web skills
* GCSE level education or equivalent, including English Language grade C or above
* Typing and secretarial experience with touch typing skills
* Experience in an administrative environment
* Computer literate and able to maintain confidentiality at all times
* Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
Desirable Qualifications
* Medical Secretary’s Diploma or equivalent
* ECDL certification
* NVQ Level 2 Business Administration
* Medical secretarial support experience
* NHS experience
* Audio typing experience
* Knowledge of 18‑week and CWT arrangements
Benefits & Working Pattern
Part‑time, 30 hours per week. Salary: £25,760–£27,476 per annum Pro Rata (Band 3, Agenda for Change). Permanent contract. Working pattern flexible within the Trust schedule.
